The annual Verge – Art Exhibition for Endangered Species event is inspired by and leads up to The Remembrance Day for Lost Species, which takes place every year on 30th November. For visitors to the Garden Route, this exhibition is a rare treat that is both educational and meaningful to those attending. Visitors varying in age will be able to appreciate the Verge Art Exhibition during their time in Knysna while still enjoying many other attractions throughout the Garden Route.
The Verge Art Exhibition, taking place from 10 – 30 November 2018, will include a group of presentations, a land art session, walks, talks, workshops and unique exhibits for the IUCN listed species on the Cape Coast.
Guests can expect artworks to include a selection of captivating paintings, limited edition prints, mixed media work, video, textile art, sculptures, installation art and more. Each work of art or unique creation will be representing the cause and raising awareness, seeking fundraising or initiating steps forward or actions taken by those who can assist these IUCN red listed species, consisting of endangered or vulnerable animals on both a local and global scale.
This amazing Art for Species project was initiated in South Africa and is currently run by local artists, coordinated by Janet Botes who is the editor of www.artlovenature.co.za. Janet is an immensely creative visual artist with a passion for ecology. Through this project, Janet’s mission remains “Create art that honors the sacredness, cycles and biodiversity of the Earth.”
In addition to the collaborative efforts by individuals with a passion for the cause, this programme also provides an excellent platform for upcoming artists to present their work. Artists travelling to Knysna for the Verge Art Exhibition can enjoy this exquisite coastal destination during their downtime, finding inspiration at every turn and being able to enjoy a wide range of holiday accommodation options booked through Hello Garden Route – Your Friendly Experts in Garden Route Accommodation.
