Exclusive Homestay @ Galini

My mother and I enjoyed a most welcoming and hospitable stay at Galini Guest House in Plettenberg Bay.

Appropriately named, ‘Galini’ (in Greek) means peace, tranquility and serenity. This is exactly what we experienced for the full duration of our sojourn!

Situated in a quiet residential area, one street away from town centre, this alone is an attraction when deciding on Galini as your preferred Plettenberg Bay Bed & Breakfast accommodation. A variety of shops and restaurants, as well as the famed Lookout Beach, are all within walking distance.

Hosted by the owner, Cherril, we were treated from start to finish. She and her friendly staff went out of their way to ensure that we had a most memorable stay. Unique add-ons such as afternoon tea accompanied by home-baked treats, also quality sparkling grape juice, decadent chocolates & flowers in every room upon arrival is standard. It’s the special touches that really do count and we thoroughly enjoyed ours.

Galini accommodated us in their lovely ground floor Garden View Room. This bedroom has a sliding door leading onto a semi-private patio with direct access onto and views of the beautifully landscaped gardens. From here, we enjoyed sightings of various birdlife which are frequent visitors – great for any bird enthusiast!

There are two other Bed & Breakfast rooms, both upstairs, also a separate & spacious apartment near the back of the property ideal to those wanting Plettenberg Bay Self-Catering Holiday Accommodation. #BestofBoth

My favorite communal area was the rooftop deck boasting panoramic views over the Keurbooms Lagoon, Indian Ocean and Tsitsikamma mountain range. This is the view that Plett is famous for!! It’s also the perfect place from which to watch dolphins and whales frolic in the Bay below, alternatively unwind with a good book. Sundowners here is a must!

Dinner: Deciding where to go? That was easy: The one and only Enrico’s Restaurant on Keurbooms Beach.

Situated literally on the beachfront, with a most spectacular backdrop of Plett in the distance and nothing but ocean in-front of you, with exceptional food to boast, it doesn’t get much better than this. You cannot visit Plettenberg Bay without a meal at Enricos! Everything on the menu is a mouth-watering winner!

After an absolute feast, we took a leisurely 10 minute drive back ‘home’ to rest in a deep slumber.

We awoke to welcoming scents of home-baked muffins, scones, Greek delights (most appreciated by us ‘Greek Geeks’ – YUM!), and of course, freshly brewed coffee. That got us up!

What lay before us was yet another feast, a breakfast unlike any other. Galini is actually famous for their breakfasts and after just a sneek peak, it’s easy to see why. Prepare to be tempted…

Now for some lazing-in-the-sun: We made use of the guests’ umbrellas and chairs, packed the car and headed down to Central Beach, a mere 5 minute drive through town. It was a perfect summer’s day and the beach was most enticing. We spent the next 2 hours laughing, swimming, going for walks, reading our books and spending real quality mother & daughter time together.

With just enough sun on our skin, we returned to Galini to fetch our bags (which Cherril kindly stored away for us) and say our farewells. We wished we could have spent another night but the journey must go on…

We both agreed, Galini was indeed one of the most pleasant Guest Houses we have stayed at to date, and that’s one in a few hundred! We’ll definitely be back, even if it’s just for that breakfast 😉

Note: Cherril lives on the property and has dogs. She does, however, only allow her dogs to come into the Guest House and interact with her guests if they feel comfortable with it.
