The venture starts with paddling from the harbour to the Storms River Gorge, can include either forest hiking toward or kayaking beneath the suspension bridge and through caves and stunning cliffs. One of the most popular attractions for those thrill-seeking adventurers, the Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour’s are the first of their kind in South Africa and have been enjoyed by many over the years – zipline between 10 treetop platforms that are built around ancient and giant Outeniqua Yellowwood trees in the enchanting Tsitsikamma Indigenous Rainforest. All the guides are fully trained professionals, as safety is paramount. There is nothing quite like gliding though this beautiful forest at high speeds, where you could potentially spot a pair of Knysna Loerie or the rare Narina Trogon among other birds, or even a monkey or two. Tsitsikamma is an amazing setting known as the adventure activity hub of the Garden Route, with an array of adventure activities for everyone to embark on.
- Bloukrantz Bridge Bungy Jump and Bridge Walk, Tsitsikamma
The perfect adventure for thrill-seekers who don’t easily frighten, the Bloukrantz Bungy is the highest commercial natural bungee bridge in the world with an insane 216 metre drop toward the river below. The view from the bridge alone is a sight to behold, capturing the magic of the Garden Route’s stunning Bloukrans River Valley. Face Adrenaline are the organizers to contact in order to book your jump – by using pendulum bungee technology and the best safety equipment available, the smoothest and most comfortable bungee jump is made possible, while afterwards you can purchase photos and/or the video of your jump to look back on your experience. The Bloukrantz Bridge Bungy has a few world records and has also hosted famous individuals such as Prince Harry and Jack Osbourne.
- Africanyon Adventure Tours in The Crags, Plettenberg Bay
Plettenberg Bay is one of the most popular Garden Route towns among tourists, and The Crags is a stunning rural setting situated between Plett and Nature’s Valley. For a lagoon cruise with a fun difference, discover the beauty of the pristine Knysna Estuary by enjoying a ride on the unique Knysna RIB adventure power boat – this boat is a custom-designed, rigid inflatable boat (RIB) that is the largest of its kind in South Africa, combining an enormous amount of power and able accommodate up to 12 passengers, while being captained by a professional and serviced regularly. This eco adventure tour is sure to be both memorable and exciting, journeying through the famous Knysna Heads, past spectacular marine and bird life and captivating scenes of Buffalo Bay and Noetzie Castles. For an adrenaline rush like no other, SharkDiving is Mossel Bay can assist you in booking the experience of a lifetime, where you can encounter majestic sharks in their natural habitat, up close and personal. Shark cage diving can be enjoyed by anyone over the age of 12 years, and no experience or certification is needed. Surface viewing is also an option and is perfect for those who aren’t quite ready to be submerged in the cold ocean waters with a shark just seconds away. Booking a Shark Cage Dive will include shark cage diving and surface viewing, a cage dive safety briefing, an experienced dive guide and boat skipper as well as all diving gear needed.
